|
|
I know it is supposed to be possible to run two MicPort Pros simultaneously on one computer, but I can't seem to get my second one to connect. I think I did get it to work one time, just as a test, but then removed the second one and haven't been able to make it work again. I'm running Windows 7 and when I plug M #2 into a USB port, the computer sees it and tries to install software (which it really doesn't need to do because the Centrance universal driver that's already installed for M #1 is supposed to handle both units), but comes up with an error code 10 in Device Manager. According to the Centrance website, that error likely indicates a problem supplying proper voltage to the unit due to being plugged into an unpowered USB hub. But the hub I'm plugging it into is powered. And I get the same error, even when I plug the M directly into a USB port on the computer itself. Any suggestions? _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Try plugging one into the hub and one into an on computer USB port.
Your hub may be USB 1 and/or the port you may be plugging in to may be non-powered. This is easily remedied by plugging into a different port.
Hope this works for you!

Frank, you're a genius! It did work. I'm surprised that it didn't work when plugged into the USB slot on the computer, immediately adjacent to the one in which the other M is plugged. I assumed all the ones on the box itself are powered. Apparently, I assumed incorrectly.
That was through a powered USB 2.0 hub. Now I need to try to get it to work through a powered USB 1.1 hub that is connected to the computer through 100 feet of CAT6 cable via a Gefen Extender. I'm not holding out great hope. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

You do try to make it interesting for me don't you?
All computer PC board USB have both powered and non-powered ports. Even if you plug a powered usb hub into a non powered port the on-board USB controller sees only a non-powered I/O device.
But, please remember - I know nothing (Sgt. Shultz). There are those who know much more than I about 'puters.
