it's nice to see some other AT fans. aside from the lower end models - i rarely hear anything about them. i use a 4050 a LOT - and really like the way i sound on it. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

That's because the ATs are good mics for the price.
I own a few and love using them (especially when working with new talent; among the many features I enjoy with AT microphones, the fact that they are somewhat forgiving is near the top of my list).
Dear Lord, I have more microphones than I care to admit to (anyone who has seen my FB page can attest to this).
What do I use? Whatever mic gets me cast on a regular basis. Not to be "that guy" (though I often am), but it's like asking a painter which brush is the best. They may have some preferences, but it's the person using them that makes the art, not the other way around.
For the past several years my weapon of choice have been either a U87 and the Horch. 416 when I'm traveling. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I have an old Rode NT2 that a friend *gave* me years ago that I still use. I recently picked up an AT875R, but haven't taken it out for a spin yet. _________________ Greg Littlefield
