It's not every day you get an email like this:

Вика Фалалеева has subscribed to you on YouTube!

So I go to that YouTube page of mine for the first time in a while (I've got 3 of them for some reason) and I'm up to 1,112 subscribers. Really?! Really.

It's all because of the 3 Lego commercials I've done. That's 1,112 kids, mostly, from all over the world. The SpongeBob Squarepants version has hit 1,776,722 views so far. The Star Wars themed ones are heading for a million.

I've got to find a way to monetize this "fame". Really?

Nah, probably not.

It's like when I discovered that a TrueType font I created for my own amusement and uploaded about seven years ago, has been downloaded more than a half million times.

If your increased public "fame" is the result of an outstanding performance for a client, would it be wrong to use "fame" to justify an increase in your monetary baseline requirements with current and future clients?

... or, at what point in a person's career, can you justify a rate increase?

If the majority of your quotes and bids are being accepted without question or negotiation by your "quality" clients... then it's time for a realistic rate review because you may not be charging enough for your services.

That's very simplistic... but at the same time, very true.
