Got one right here, will post audio samples as soon as I have some worthy of your ears. Thanks to Jordan Reynolds who sent me Serial #0001 for a demo! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I'm really hoping to hear some female VO samples on this mic soon! I just looked and they don't have them up on the site yet, though. Jordan told me they did do tests with women but I didn't ask him who.
Have you had a chance to test it out any more, George? I'm really curious to hear your thoughts. The mic looks excellent to me (granting that I am not an expert) but I have to admit I wonder about the price point and whether the degree of improvement over my $250ish mic would be worth the extra cash outlay. _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

For voice over work you only need one mic, a Sennheiser MKH416 and a Neumann U87. |

I'm just relieved that today's microphones are sophisticated enough to pick up women's voices at all.

Might be awesome, who knows? But of course every mic manufacturer out there makes similar claims so I would definitely say try before you buy. |

By the way, Roswell Audio is also Microphoneparts.com building excellent mics, similar to their DYI kits (for those that don't want to build or mod a mic).

True, but this design was specifically tuned for VO (whatever that actually means). I know Jordan Reynolds worked with them and tested something like 100 designs to get it the way they both wanted it to sound. I would think you could buy it as a kit from MP if you wanted to build instead of buy...if you wanted to go down that path. |

In case any one is still interested to know more about this mic, I just stumbled across George's review

Hey, thanks Scott! And thanks George for doing the review.
I seem to be in remission from my recent bout of gear-itis but I'm definitely gonna keep this mic in mind for the future. Seems like a really nice mic for VO. _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

I believe it's pronounced the "R A - V O" mic. Not Ravo.
Roswell is making excellent affordable mic's
I know the owner and have emailed him for the clarification on the mic name. Anything from them is good stuff!

Ok, here is the official word from Matt:
Quote: | As far as I’m concerned, the name is pronounced by spelling the four letters individually, R A V O.
“VO” is always spelled, rather than pronounced, right? That’s why the mic was called the RA-VO, with four syllables.
Maybe I should add an FAQ section to the website. |

The RA-VO is an excellent mic. I thought when George switched to it in the video… it's sounded better than his mic on the boom… which also sounded pretty good!
