Hi guys,
I recall there's some good news in this area of an interface between ISDN and ipdtl. Being a longtime user of the former, and not a user yet of the latter (though I did sign up for free user account) I'd like to know what options there are for remote to ISDN sessions..The idea of being able to seamlessly do an ISDN gig from a hotel room (or someone's guest bedroom) is very appealing and could take the worry out of getting away.
So is this something for someday soon..or is someday now? And if so, what's needed besides recording gear, M and laptop or netbook?
Thanks! |

The option to send and receive ISDN calls is now available through ipDTL with the Tel add-on service (additional fee). I haven't gotten to test it out yet, but it looks very promising for those, like me, who have no access to ISDN service. The only wrinkle is that you don't have dedicated SPIDS, so you have to wait until just before the session to give them to the client. I'm not really sure how they could feasibly get around that.
Edited to add that it's web based. You just need the Chrome browser and, of course, your regular recording setup _________________ Back into the murky lurk from whence I came

so for now I'm guessing a bridging service is best option for needs that are only occasional? SC, of course...but can ipdtl also be bridged if needed? |

IPDTL ISDN connection is real, Howard Cogan used it on Fox spot. But not recommend when working "in sync" because Opus codecs drift the latency... _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Is the IPDTL to ISDN (and vice versa) feature an extra-cost option for the service in general, or is there a usage fee applied when making one of those connections (or both)? _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

For now the only fee is the Tel subscription from ipDTL. I would guess that after testing this will be a paid subscription of its own. |
