"Do you have a licensing fee" for videos that will appear online?
Ever hear that question before? I'll guess he means an extra usage fee on top of voice recording and editing. Yes?
If so, is there a "standard" fee or percentage or... ??? _________________ Mike

They may be referring to licensing for use on YouTube Pre-Roll or other Instream Advertising. In which case, them asking shows that they may be aware of the fact that it is more like broadcast than non-broadcast.
I would say "yes". To get the fee or percentage, you may want to dig a bit deeper into how they are going to use it. See if you can find out:
-How long it will be played for
-How many "views" they are paying for, if applicable
-Whether they are targeting any particular geographical regions (some ads play nationally on YouTube pre-roll for certain demographics, some will just be local YouTube spots)
To specifically answer your question - no, there really is no standard fee or percentage, other than the one the union has designed for an all-encompassing yearly fee.
FYI, that rate is $2843.61 for a one year rate for internet (does not include the agent fees but DOES include P&H). _________________ www.mattcowlrick.com |

Thanks, Matt! Great info.
The client is in talent acquisition and I've done several projects for them in the past, but those were internal videos. If you're right, regarding the usage, this might be their first time... and it will be my first time.
I've just asked what the intended use is, but I don't expect an answer until Monday, as they are in Europe.
Does anyone else have any possible considerations? _________________ Mike
