Grab one of their cheapy HDMI-to-component converters (HDMI input, three component video and left and right audio RCA plugs output). The video parts interest me not - but I was traveling over the last ten days and had a need for six discrete audio channels out for some equipment testing that is not terribly relevant to this forum. But, having only my little USB travel mixer, I was down four channels. With the laptop's built-in lineout, still down two channels. Then I wandered in to a RadioShack, just to see what might be really cheap before they shutter entirely, saw the adapter and figured for $25 it'd either be a fun doodad or completely worthless but maybe fit the bill. Turned out to do just the trick. With REAPER and everyone's favorite ASIO4ALL, the testing was executed as required.
The gist, and what possibly might make it relevant to other folks here, is that, if you need an additional unbalanced pair of audio outputs and don't really care too much about the possibly crummy quality, it might save your day (or, if your case is like my case, "weekend"), too.
Or you could just travel with a nicer mixer, but then you couldn't Rube Goldberg, now could you. _________________ Finally, Ford stops starting to say things and starts. |
