|
|
I started the morning off with a good chuckle. Reading through a Facebook Group populated by Audiobook Narrators, one lady was having and proclaiming her Woo-Hoo moment. She had replaced her front entry-way door and reduced the noise level in her recording environment by 10 dB.
Say what? So where do you record.... sitting on the sofa in front of the fireplace? The old door was lightweight and had a sizeable single thickness glass.
Reports like that make you furrow your brow and ask: "So what am I overlooking at my place?" |

There was a follow-up about the noise reduction by replacing the front door.
No, she was not sitting close to the front door, on the sofa, in front of the fireplace. Her recording space was as far away from the front door as possible, at the back of the house.

That is a "head scratcher" for sure. A rocket-scientist level person might figure out there was a hallway down through the house that was a "tuned port" or something. |

A 10 dB change in noise level is always good for one's head. |

I relish lurking through threads of this type Replaced all the single pane glass in my house with insulated double-paned glass several years ago. I never did "before/after" testing for lowered noise floor, however the overall reduction in traffic /noise in general was-is readily apparent. _________________ If attacked by a mob of clowns go for the juggler.
