I just got my Black Friday deal - not a fancy mic or preamp, but the Shure A15HP High Pass Filter.
I use my Mackie Onyx board for preamps and I like them - but they have a 100 Hz HPF with 18 dB per octave reduction. That's way too much reduction!
The Shure takes off 12 dB per octave at 100 HPF.
If I then boost the 80 Hz +3dB at the Mackie Onyx, that will give me a reduction curve exactly like a 70 Hz HPF with 12 dB per octave, which I think is mega-spiffy for voice over.

Hei Lance!
Thanks for posting about your Shure A15HP purchase. Been really curious about that one since I have been researching about a good in-line HPF.
Thought the Shure might be similar to the built-in HPF in the iD22, which is -3dB @ 100Hz, 2nd Order (12dB/Octave).
Ended up with the Rycote Tac!t, which is a 60 Hz filter, which is (In-line, active "third-order" (18dB/octave) filter with a "knee" at approximately 60Hz).
Would love to hear samples with your Shure when you have time to post them, or just send me a link. _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

I've got one, haven't played around with it to much though -- glad to hear someone else has one! _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha
