I will be so, so glad when this election is over in two weeks. The overwrought rhetoric from the guest commentators on the news channels in particular is hard to take.
I will also be so, so sad when the political commercial season will be over. I enjoy delivering the overwrought rhetoric of many of these campaigns. Meaty scripts! Thanks to them it will be a pleasant holiday season.
This is not an invitation to comment on particular candidates or parties. Just commenting on the process.

The good thing about political campaigns is, they keep coming back (which can also be a bad thing). Pretty soon it'll be 2018, and the presidential race will start once again. _________________ My full name is Karl Kuhlken (think Macauly Culkin...it rhymes)

I may be repeating a question from years ago...
Do you work both sides of the street during the election season?
Do you avoid working "issues" that are counter to your ideals/beliefs/morals? _________________ "Bailey"

Political gigs seem like a trip, I'd love to get one of those, especially since I'd probably never have to shake hands with the politician from the comfort of my studio! |

I've worked both sides but one side in particular (through a couple of political producers) has been using me most. I'm very careful to log which states and districts I read for so I don't have a conflict.
Most of the "issues" I've worked for are tax issues in other states which don't matter to me. I do have strong views on a few of the moral issues of the day and I'm sure I'd pass on voicing an ad contrary to my beliefs. Most candidates are a mixed bag of views so it's tougher to reject voicing for them.

Don't worry, Bruce. The 2020 campaign begins on Wednesday, November 9. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I'm tempted to cry, Lee.

You've forgotten the BEST aspect of doing political spots: payment up front. |
