It's an audition consisting of a single paragraph. While there might be something somewhere in the full script (an internal piece), there is nothing at all even slightly smirky in this paragraph. Yet the direction is "smart, funny and charismatic."
While I can certainly give it a "light" read with a smile, how does one demonstrate "funny" when the words aren't? I truly, honestly don't know.
(I found this to be similar to the severely over-written commercial scripts where there's no time to inhale and the characters' lines step on each other, yet they seek "great comedic timing.")  _________________ Mike
