I know there are several VO Talents here who use the Universal Audio
Apollo Twin units. Not necessarily the USB version (which is new) but...

Since the unit is supposed to have it's own DSP ...HOW important is the processing power of the computer you use with it?

For USB...Native USB 3.0 is necessary. But, beyond that...

How powerful is the system YOU are using with your Apollo ....AND...do you find that it also eats up your computer's processing power?

For VO...we are normally talking about ...ONE track...mono.

Do I really need to purchase an I7 quad core?

Seems like overkill to me. But what do I know. That's why I'm asking...

Thanks. Laugh

Thanks.

Thanks for posting something of interest to me in this section, seriously. I have no idea what NVM means. Now that was interesting!

I realized that I was asking a question that interested only a small subset of a subset. So in the end...nevermind.

YET, since I attended one of your "in person" mini-instant seminars...

I've become enlightened... and no longer feel the need to explain myself.

So...WTF? Laugh

I use an Apollo Twin Duo for my road rig. Mine is thunderbolt connected and I connect it to a MacBook Air and use the Neve 1073 pre amp plug in and the Fairchild compressor plug in... it works beautifully.

Nice.

Now let's add the API Vision Channel Strip and the Manley VoxBox channel Strip and we'll all have a VO party. Ninja cool

Do you find the MacBook Air to operate silently?

I'm coming from the PC/USB side (MOSTLY because every piece of software I have is for the PC) and am looking at using a laptop running an SSD drive (for speed and "hopefully'...silence).

Yes, the MB Air runs silently. My road rig set up has the Mac right in front of me so I can load scripts on the screen. Very quiet.

Silence...

That's what I'm looking for.

That plus divesting myself of my DBX 286, DBX 286a, Grace 101, Focusrite Platinum Voicemaster Pro. Maybe ...my Lawson L47 Gold...among other goodies.

Just me...my Apollo (with overpriced plugins of course) my soon to be shipped back and checked out 416...and did I mention....

Me.

The simplicity appeals to me.

Then...if I can only apply that principle to the rest of my life... Sarcastic
