Hi all,
I'd like some advice from all my peeps. A friend has a slightly used 2015 MacBook Pro 13.3" she's thinking about selling. I'm sort of interested but am wondering if a 13.3" screen is large enough for editing. Also, any suggestions on what to offer ($$) for it? Many thanks.

Hi Deb,
13.3 inches is a bit small for editing however you can always hook up an external monitor which will make editing a lot better. As far as price goes I would find out what processor ie; i3, i5 or i7. Also what size is the hard drive and how much memory it has. Once you get that you can check ebay and see what others have sold for. Hope that helps,

13.3" is pretty small for anyone over a certain age, but if you're eyesight is sharp, why not? I mean some people record and edit on iPads which are smaller yet.
Look up used Macs on the Apple site for the high end and then Google "used MacBook Pro" and see how much sites you think you can trust sell them for and somewhere in between is your answer. I'd avoid buying from an unknown individual.

I record and edit in Twisted Wave on a 12.9" iPad Pro as often as possible. Instant on. Dead silent. Two a s at a time (TW + scripts, side-by-side). Love it! And, the sharp resolution of the Retina display makes it all possible.
If TW wasn't feature-crippled on the iPad, I'd never touch a Mac. Sadly, there are several key productivity features in the Mac version of TW that make it a necessary evil.
In short, if that Mac's got a Retina display, 13" is totally doable. If not, maybe it would be better for a travel rig. |

Also, in case you're thinking of having the MacPro in your booth, it is NOT silent. SSD drives notwithstanding. _________________ Jack Daniel

Just to throw a wrench in things, I hate editing on a laptop (I have a 13" macbook air) and instead choose to work on a 27" 5k iMac |

Very true. I have both a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air, and I only use the Air in the studio. The Pro even with a SSD upgrade eventually will kick on the fan and cause noise. The little tiny Air, however, stays silent as can be. It works great as a TwistedWave recording rig. _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha

I'm a rare breed that actually prefers smaller screens, probably because I've never had a place to mount a larger monitor! I've edited on ipads, a 13 inch macbook air, and my largest screen to date is my 15 inch macbook pro. Never had an issue. _________________ "There's Magic all around us; you just have to see it.
