Anybody getting a sudden increase in sales calls (and occasional texts) from companies wanting to help you re-design your website or offering other web services? I'm getting 3 or 4 a day now... some from "Steve" in Mumbai.

I've been getting the website-related emails (redesign and/or SEO) for a couple of years. In most of them, wherever they're from, they fail to address me by name (instead, it's "Dear Mike-Harrison.com team," something similar or just "Dear [blank space]," So it immediately goes into the trash. So do the ones from website "experts" who don't even have their own website. Buh-bye! _________________ Mike

Did you register a domain? Whenever I buy a new domain name these days I get an avalanche of Website offers I must REPLY TO or they will email again, acting affronted at my lack of response.
Usually lasts about 3 weeks. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Of the 50+ domains I own. I always make sure that I pay extra to keep my info anonymous. In the past I have used godaddy...then moved to 1and1 (started out reasonably priced to suck you in...then went crazy) and now I am at namecheap.com. So far, no complaints. Their anonymous service is an addon called whoisguard.
As a result, I escape being bothered.
Early on I learned that there is pond scum out there that will use bots to collect names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers from the whois database.
No...not associated with any of these companies. _________________ "I reserve the right to be completely wrong." |
