Is there a such thing as TOO MANY agents? (Count stands at 8 agents)
I ask because the majority of my agents send me the same stuff, on the same day. I can get "New Line Athletic Wear VO" and then get VO for New Line Athletics, and then get " Apparel Wear VO audition" and then open the email and it's for the same bloody thing. I've talked to my agents about they type of work they look for in general, while at the same time suggesting to them the type of work I think I'd be well suited for, which may increase my chances of getting us both in the green. Should I begin a weeding out process, or just keep them until the terms are done?
This is NOT a criticism of any kind, just curious as how and why (at least to me) that they are fishing from the same lake. This is non-union btw. _________________ Tre@trespeaksforyou.com

I have five agents and AMAZINGLY I get maybe one or two crossover auditions a month. Just lucky I guess to have the ones I do.

I have a relatively high number of agents (around ten, plus the production houses)... a couple of "high order" union ones... and a whole bunch of "middle order" (maybe not the best descriptors, but you know what I mean). Up until the recent purchase of Voicebank by Voices, I was getting quite a few duplicates as the agents hit the Voicebank list. However, since the purchase and the creation of the VOAA (Voice Over Agents Alliance) where the members unceremoniously walked away from Voicebank/Voices... I now have only one agent that forwards VB auditions. My duplications have dropped to almost zero. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Bish that makes perfect sense...if it isn't the duplicate auditions, it will be the lack thereof. Wow, Voicebank and Voldemort really put a dent in a lot of agencies. Luckily I have my production houses as well, or the cupboard would be bare. _________________ Tre@trespeaksforyou.com

Yes, when you get multiples, that's usually due to a casting site like Voicebank. For the larger/major jobs, even if posted on Voicebank, the jobs will only go to a handful of agencies. And for the larger agents in the major markets, buyers will just send to a small handful of agents and only request up to 5 submissions per agency.
Before Voicebank, when the auditions were done at casting offices, you didn't just read in person, often with the ad agency present, but you often were one in ten reading for it. Ah, the good old days! |

Shotgunned auditions are a complete waste of time.
If you had submissions from Abrams and TGMD and also Agent 99, who would you listen to first? _________________ DBCooperVO.com
