|
|
A friend of mine wants to sell/trade his 20 year-old CD collection of music beds. He has not put a price tag on it. My question to you is... will I ever need a collection of 20 y.o. music beds? I know that you cannot anticipate MY needs but... does the average VO have a need for these?
Thanks for any advice here. |

Beyond the fact they will most likely sound very dated; unless you are going to produce commercials or demos, no, you will not need them. |

If you don’t have experience producing audio with music or a strong desire to do so, don’t buy any collections, especially “old” ones. If an opportunity comes up you can buy single cuts of “royalty free” music online for $25 (give or take $25) and charge your client.

What the others have said.
Unless one does a lot of period (historical) work, where the music must be appropriate for a given subject, musical trends change very quickly, and using dated music in a current project will make an otherwise great bit of production sound... well, icky, and draw attention to it for the wrong reason. _________________ Mike

Or you could start a radio station... 'Oldie Music Beds'
You would be a Pioneer in the format!!! _________________ Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics

Okay, thanks everyone. I sure don't need any extra clutter around here. |
