As I understand it, (and that's the first mistake) Joe's crowd at NBC liked the SC because they could look directly at the ProTools Files.
That is one of the main reasons Pro Tools is a standard with the heavy hitters. You are able to send the PT file and the studio edits directly. _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

I've had a Zephyr and an APT-X Reporter for about 11-12 years. Think long and hard before you buy an APT. Unless you have a client base from the select group that use APT, you're wasting your money. I believe the East Coast is one area that uses APT (Earworks, Studio Center, Washington DC, some studios in the South East) and studios in Europe. The rest are Zephyr and Prima, and they play together just fine.

I'm afraid deep purple with bright yellow buttons is the only way the Prima's come.
And I take it back on the price difference. I just checked, and new Zephyrs are $1,500 to $1,800 more than Prima LT's ($3,200 vs $4,700 to $5,000).
I've seen used Zephyrs at Bay Country Audio for like $2,500, but I have yet to see a used Prima.

Bay Country just sold a used Prima LT for 1899. Zephyrs are coming down a bit, at least as far as the older 9202's are concerned. Seen them going on eBay for around 1500.
I'm in the market myself. |

Guys, for what it's worth I use my Telos Zephyr 9202 every blessed weekday. For numerous things—mostly broadcast, but I am in your studio the world over if you need me.
I'd love to try Source Connect, but none of the remote studios I work with presently is using Pro Tools.
Whether or not to get ISDN was a dilemma for quite a while, but now I can't imagine life—PROFESSIONAL life— without it. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Maybe it's just me, but on the numerous occasions I've worked with ISDN codecs I always preferred the Telos Zephyr. Simply because even when I'm not looking closely I can still get a proper reading from the audio input and output meters. And then there are the larger buttons...
I recently got rid of my ISDN codec by the way, since the telephone company over here in my city is busy with totally rebuilding all technical facilities... ISDN connectivity could no longer be guaranteed (for the past months) and will not for another six months they expect. Something wrong with the main cables underneath the ground in this specific area. I live in one of the three streets that 'suffer' from this. For 'live ISDN' gigs (I don't get a lot of them) I can go to a friend's studio, so no jobs have to be missed.
Furthermore... Holland is not that big hehehe... The Netherlands only measure about half the state of Maine, so most of the time I'm never more than an hour's drive away from my clients anyway. We did however stuff 16 million people in here... you might say we're somewhat crowded!
Regards from The Netherlands,
Edo |

Anthony, I saw a classified for a used Telos but I just learned it's an old post (editing here) at Radio & Production on line. You might keep an eye on classifieds there. (Thanks, Chuck.)
Often, I think about a post of the recent past "What is your VO dream/goal?" and I see this (below) and think "it's that!":

Diane. That's actually an old post. Dated July 15th. I believe that unit was sold. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Ah hah! Good going Anthony. Just picked up one privately myself.
Lucky that I already have the lines...my employer picks up the tab. Now I can give them back their Zephyr. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Does yours have a fan in it?
If mine did, it was diabled before it got to me, and I'm glad!
I keep all my rack stuff chocked up on wooden blocks for airflow.

yeah it has a fan. i'm not removing it though - it doesn't leak into the booth plus it's on the opposite side of the room - the booth is behind a wall and that helps.
