I looked at horse stall mats today and they were displayed outdoors. Even outdoors, I could smell the rubber. It was pretty strong.
Does that odor go away? I don't want that smell in my booth.
Do you think that this off-gassing is just annoying or do you think that it is possibly dangerous to one's health? |

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the main objective with putting one of these in the booth? Posture health? deadening, cutting out vibrations? _________________ www.mattcowlrick.com |

Yes, all of those things.
More comfortable to stand on than a hard floor.
Helps isolation and damping vibrations in the floor.
Thinking of putting one on the roof of the booth as well.
A 4'x 6' mat at 3/4" thick weighs around 48 lbs. or at least the one that I am looking at does.
And it sells for only $40.
That's a great deal... if the smell goes away!

Hey Nick. I used two of those stall mats as a replacement for heavy MLV in my booth build to beaf up the density between my room inside a room (so the mats themselves are inside the wall and I never smelled them after sealing that u . HOWEVER, I did have some scraps from needing to cut the mats and those sat in a box in my office for like 2 years (I clean up really frequently...) and I remember the smell disappearing quite quickly. I let them sit in the garage for a couple weeks before I installed them. I think, like any new rubber thing, the smell is strong at first but will go away.
If there is a tractor supply near you:
