I'm Baaaaaaack!

I have been out of the VO-BB scene for a while. I took some time to move to beautiful Central Oregon. (Bend, that is.) I accepted a very generous job offer as Creative Service Director for a small broadcasting company here in Bend. I've wanted to live in this part of the country for quite some time.

The trip here has been interesting to say the least. My wife, Judy, and I flew out for the interview on Saturday August 26th. We accepted and I signed the contract on Monday August 28th. Then we were supposed to fly home that day. Instead, my wife started having stomach pains. I took her to the ER in Bend. They told us she had a strangulated hernia and would have to operate in about 30 minutes.

So we ended up DRIVING 950 miles back to Colorado a few days later. Judy was not able to lift anything, so I got to load the truck and unload on the other end. If it hadn't been for my 16-year old daughter's boyfriend (and the fact that we sold almost everything heavy in a moving sale), I'd never have accomplished the move.

Anyway, we're here. It's beautiful!

What a beautiful home in a beautiful area! I hope Judy is feeling better. How is your daughter coping with the big move?

Wow. That's some boyfriend. He helps you pack up everything knowing you're taking his girlfriend so far away.

Nice looking house, well wishes to your wife.

Good to hear from you!
I'd wondered where you'd gotten to.

Sorry about your wife's bad turn-- and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thank you for the pix! I can see why you'd choose to be there.

We spent almost a week at River House in 2004. Drove all over Bend... did some rafting... went to Mt. Bachelor... and looked at lots of nice homes. Great weather! Bend doesn't get the rain that coastal Oregon gets. We hope to get back up there again for another vacation. Just don't spread the word about how nice Bend is... those home prices will start skyrocketing!

Dave, that is gorgeous. I'm sure you will love it there and be very happy. What really grabbed me about your 1st pic is the remarkable resemblance to the view off my master bedroom deck. Your picture could have been taken from there. lol....I hope not....but looks like it. hehehe If you want to see the resemblance check these out.

Pic #1

Pic #2

Pic #3

Those were taken last December. If they were taken now or during the summer it would look much more full. Anyway.....congrats on the great job and the great house!

I'm sorry Tom....lol....Dave's first picture literally looks like I'm at home looking off my deck. It's amazing the resemblance. I won't post them anymore. I made them as links so Dave could look if he wanted but didn't want to force anyone to have to see them.

I, too, wondered what happened, Dave! Happy to hear you escaped Grand Junction for Bend. So cool there, and I know a great guy--Dr. Bob Havard--who is definitely one not to miss if you are into anything outdoors. The guy is a stud, in his late 50s, and full of tales. My wonderful moments there were on the South and Middle Sister volcanoes in brilliant searing sunshine in May, where skiing is as good as it gets! And there's a good local brewery, too. Best of luck, Dave. Enjoy that gig! And I'll see you this spring, I hope; it's been a couple of years since a volcano tour has brought me to your new 'hood.

Oh my, how will you ever get anything done? With a view like that, I'd sit by my window all day.

Best of luck in the new digs and job.

Hey Dave,

I have friends that vacation in Bend from time to time...uh, what is that address and I'll send them by to say hello Laugh

The new gig sounds great and you couldn't live in a more pleasant area. Congrats and all the best for a speedy recovery for the little woman!

Dave
