My 26 year old daughter is starting to talk with an affected-fry voice. Being the good mother I am, I don't say anything, but respond to her in a worser-fry delivery. So far she hasn't picked up what I'm puttin down.

It's almost as if nearly everyone jumping on the Valley Speak bandwagon weren't enough. I just never understood the desire to purposely affect the voice for something other than to play a character... or give some other illusion. And then, for many others to hear it and do the same thing (?)

Why advertising works: give something some sort of appeal and - especially if a celebrity does it - others will quickly follow, most without question.
