I have seen scissor mic booms that have about a 1 foot tall vertical stand before the rest of the traditional scissor boom is mounted on top of it. It places the mic higher and suspends it more overhead, but I can't figure out for the life of me what they are called. Any suggestions? _________________ http://neilkhessvo.com |

Also try searching: Luxo microphone arm
I've had 3 of them for almost 20 years and they still work well. I like the wide variety of mounting hardware they offer too.

Neil, if you're considering one of those scissor-booms, just beware of something I encountered while using one 30 years ago: the springs began vibrating sympathetically with a certain frequency in my voice and the ringing was transmitted to the mic. I had to wrap the springs with cloth to stop the vibrations. _________________ Mike

Don't waste your money on imitations. Get an OC White . If the springs vibrate just put a piece of gaffer tape on them. |
