Greetings all and well met.
Would the seasoned among you kindly lend me your ears. While good with words, i'm failing to frame my voice in terms that would be readily used in the industry and an accurate representation of what is in my demo.
I'd welcome your adjectives and descriptors. Thanks in advance

" Upbeat, eclectic baritone with low ranges to falsetto, strong, consistent, adaptable improv, great pronunciation and vocabulary - 20 year range - multicultural, new yorker, (not new yawwker or lawn guylander) academic, sciences librarian with rare flat accent or strong inflections on demand.. approachable and great to work with - Till next we speak, be well. "
Thank you kindly for sharing your expertise and time- cheers, Brian |

Not a fan of actors telling buyers what they sound like. Rarely does the talent live up to their own description. Let the demo speak for itself. Buyers want brilliant actors, not brilliant describers. |

Thank you gents..its a seemingly ubiquitous idea when you look at much of the P2P sites. (that's a different thread I'm sure) I'm genuinely grateful for the counter examples..In this current era of meta tags is there really no place for a well phrased descriptor that sets the table? do hiring wonks really ignore them? Do they not use them to filter out what they are looking for? Not arguing your advice just want to be able to see it from all sides.
Thank you |

I certainly can't speak for all voiceover buyers, but throwing up a search for a generic voice description (lively, funny, mature) on the Internet seems to offer mixed and usually worthless results if you want someone to narrate your script tomorrow. I just tried it. Meh.
Buyers seem to usually work through talent agencies, production houses, and their own list of people they've heard and like. That last one there is a reason to contact people/companies that use voice talent and let them know you exist and what you sound like by sound primarily. However here is where a simple description might work: an introductory email that says, "I have an energetic style that really connects with young millennials". "I have a smooth urban delivery that reaches almost every demographic." Then offer a link. Whatever fits you. Just not a list of 20 qualities.
