With 9 per page they offer 184 pages of US voices.
It is getting to the point that most VO people will sign to help a firing squad get some much needed target practice and there will be someone else setting up yet another a website to ensure they get the chance to audition for it.
As this site ensures the Voice remains anonymous there will be the potential for job getting but it's neither a business builder or client builder.
Throw enough mud at the wall knowing some of it will stick appears to be THE business model for 2019 and beyond. There's no future in it!
We need to start talking to people again. |

250 countries
553 languages
1,544 dialects
7,800 voices
It's interesting to run some calculations on those numbers ... if you can be bothered (I couldn't).
However... type in a simple Google search: How many countries are there? The answer states 189 to 196 depending on your source (and if you consider Outer Wallingford as an independent country). If the first thing you tell me is unmitigated shite, then why should I believe anything you say? ALL those numbers are now totally suspect.
The ONLY people who make money here are the demo mills that have people lining up to make crappy demos so people can list themselves on sites like this.
There were long discussions on the UK Pro FB groups last year when they started hitting everyone and their dog with a solicitation. My own comment at the time was:
Setting up a site for VO?
Want to match talent with clients?
Have a plan that will eventually provide a reasonable return?
The easy part is getting talent listed... a few email shotgun blasts and you've usually got thousands of VOs scrabbling to be on the list.
The difficult part is convincing clients that you offer a unique product in an already vastly overcrowded marketplace. Most VOs are like dogs walking down the street... we'll want to mark every tree we pass... "Oh look... a list... I must be on it or I'll miss out on something!" Clients with jobs? Not so much.
Anyway... I thought there were rules about mass email solicitations now?
Further searches on the UK groups show that the question comes up often, and the general consensus seems to be that the way you have to chop up your demos is a pain in the butt. Miles sees himself as 'one of the good guys working for the good of the VO industry" (he came in from outside the industry - systems and software guy as far as I can see). They are trying to have a presence with a lot of blogs and articles... but no one, as far as I can see, has commented about getting any work from them.
I passed when they contacted me. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

It would appear that each demo a person has attached to his or her profile is listed separately, so there aren't 1656 different voiceoverists on the site; there are 1656 demos. And perhaps not even that many. I suspect if a demo has been tagged with three different descriptors, it may account for three slots. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

That looks to be poor organizational skills on their part. In the words of Mr. Thoreau: "Simplify, simplify."
... or was that Marie Kondo? _________________ * * * * * * * * * *

The website is based on the Wordpress platform. I have nothing against wordpress for a small business but I suspect that a bigger venture like this would have it's own platform. _________________ Reading, talking and listening.

So... Wordpress sites for professional web design, are the same as USB mics are to professional VO?
I can't say I disagree at all _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish
