here goes, I have been working on updating my narration demo so here goes

I have been auditioning some mics as well, so I re-cut some with various mics.
Thanks in advance.

The audio is clean and clear, I heard every word you said and stayed with the demo for 45 seconds. It would be worth finding gaps in the audio to insert the phrase "This reporter thinks" or "this reporter discovered" and you will then hear why the demo does you no favours at all. In every segment I see you doing a piece to camera with whatever you are talking about happening over your left shoulder. Far too newsy. Slow down, enjoy each subject, draw the listener or viewer into the world of Quakers, rape centres, jury service or .......................
Hope that helps. |

Listen to the greats.
Frederick Davidson.
George Guidall.
Barbara Rosenblatt.
I like Joe Mantegna even though he's not from Boston and says "Copley Square" withg a long O.
They tell a story.
What's happening right now with you is the difference between talking TO someone and talking AT someone.
Start by reading a kid's story aloud.
Those are easy and less inclined to NewsSpeaky reads. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Bill,
Ever done any acting? Community theatre or local acting classes are not just fun, but really help you “find your voice”. I’m a firm believer that every piece you read is just “acting in front of a mic”. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

Thanks for the input. Dave, I haven't acted (unless you count TV news, but that's part of the issue yeah?) since 5th grade!
"...to the founder of this feast, Ebenezer Scrooge!"
Just wanted to make sure we're all onthe same page, these were all, except that from my documentar, from corporate work I've done, I called it a narration demo as opposed to commercial, but I see how narration could be considered more "audio book." Not sure if that makes a difference, I still sound newsy.
back to the woodshed. |
