I was at the informational meeting for the new provisions for the SAG-AFTRA commercials contracts and I have to say I'm impressed. The union has finally taken a leap into 21st century with these new provisions and is looking forward as well. This video provides a simple explanation of some of the new options for producers. The rates referenced here are on-camera rates. VO rates are 75% of these.

These are not the only new provisions. The Audio contract has been greatly simplified into National and Regional. Single markets will still function as units but having a National rate and a Regional rate is so much easier.

The union has also taken into account addressable advertising, which is the future of advertising. VO fares particularly well in this area regarding the edits.

I'm optimistic about this contract.

It seems to make things a lot easier to understand with some choices on what plan works for a producer.
