On the web site of a voice over or audio book narrator
"I spend all day in a dark padded room talking to myself!"
You can't write things like that in 2020 and in the next breath talk about helping people with mental health issues.
I know someone who literally spends every day like that and that is likely to remain the case for some time until the Doctors can get to the root of what darkens her soul. |

For some reason I’m reminded of the late great Hal Douglas going a little bonkers in a booth, ending with, “I like it in here!”

i think a lot of us are a bit flippant with what we do, in the name of modesty, humor or simply not knowing how to describe it to someone who won't understand anyway. we forget that there ARE people in dark holes who don't come into the sunlight when they stop reading. *
*i typed a lot after this - but deleted it as "TMI". _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Most things simply wash over me leaving no impression at all but even prior to Angela's, we hope, temporary loss of liberty it grated on me.
Me and my friend Derek in pubs used to do a double act when meeting new people.
"Derek, what do you do for a living?"
"I use my propulsion and engineering skills to direct communication load bearing projectiles out of the atmosphere into a geostationary orbit. It's not rocket science!" he would add with a shrug.
"Derek, I think you'll find it is!" I politely pointed out. |
