If you have updated your Mac to Big Sur, have you encountered any problems?
Apart from any problems, do you have any comments, pro or con on the OS; both generally and as it applies specifically to audio work? _________________ Mike

The only way an answer to this question would have an relevance to you is if the user has the same Mac, Hardware, hardware firmware, and software versions you have on their system.
I have a Macbook Air M1 with Big Sur and it's worked with just about everything I've thrown at it (Pro Tools ain't ready, no surprise there).
Doesn't mean I endorse upgrading to it, though. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

my theory on updates is ... if it works, don't fix it.
unfortunately mac does not believe in this strategy. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Computer OS = planned PAID obsolescence (or increase my bottom - uh - line), whether you need, want, desire it or not.

How about those new 8K TV sets? They have such a refined image most humans can’t see the difference between them and 4K. Yet some folks are going to have to own one....at $2,000 to $10,000 and up.

Ugh, I am admitting I am old but, I remember when a 36" flat screen was $4,000.00+.
But, wait for it................................................................. 64k Wide screen is nearly here.
And, when we used (oh my???) landlines which were only at our homes or businesses.
I really am getting old.

Upgraded to Big Sur a few days ago.
I use an SSL2 interface and REAPER.
Everything works great, including Source-Connect and Opus Codec connections.
Also, everything LOOKS better. More legible/clear. Visually it is so much better than Catalina and easier to work with.
Chrome is still unbelievably slow on my Mac, though. Firefox is fine. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

So I got an M1 MacBook pro and I have used Adobe Audition and my Apollo Twin with no issues. I was having some issues with Izotope Iris2. It would load but wouldn't run right. |
