Top tip - To self improve, step one is to stop reading self improvement books, blogs and articles. No Author ever knew the outcome when they first decided to "Woot Go for it!" If you simply blunder around screwing things up like everyone else things tend to turn out ok. |

Beginners who have the will to do VO but don't know the way, will find useful "how to" information in our "Where To Start" folder on the VO-BB. Beyond that one can easily drown in the ocean of self improvement information out there. One can also lose a lot of coin, bit or otherwise.
The hard work ahead is all yours, self improving your self through listening to the work of established talent, absorbing what they do that makes them successful, and then practicing and practicing some more.

Malcolm Gladwell's theory regarding the 10,000-hour rule applies to pretty much everything (let's disregard some of the counter study that would indicate that environment, innate skill, and other contributing factors may interfere with the end result). The bottom line is the same: do everything Bruce said. A lot. The rub comes when people want to reap the benefits of the 10,000 hours at hour 7. Or maybe hour 8 if they're feeling really, really patient.
Pitter patter. |

failing is the only way to improve. i don't know if i have 10,000 hours in (i've been trimming brush & trees since i was 12) - but yesterday i made a cut on a tree under pressure and got whacked square in the face with a baseball bat size branch ... hard enough for me to see stars & bloody my nose.
will i make that particular move again anytime soon? probably not.
same concept with VO ... or anything else.
try - fail - repeat. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

It's so encouraging to hear you all endorsing the practice of failure.
Truly.
I fail daily, and hopefully by now I'm starting to get somewhere. _________________ * * * * * * * * * *
