I’ve been watching the Beatles documentary on Disney (about 20 to 30 minutes at a time… it’s a bit grueling with all the carping and such) but one of the many things that intrigued me was the dinky vocal mics they used, about the size of a ping pong ball. No fancy large diaphragm mics for our boys!
If you’ve been struggling watching it, hunt for segments with Billy Preston on the keyboards (starting about one hour and 30 into episode 2. He so lifts the band and rounds out the sound. Amazing!

Okay, now I don't feel so bad that I was not able to watch the whole thing in one go. I am also watching it in bits and pieces. And the Beatles are my all-time favorite band, and it's amazing to watch them but it is grueling at times. But I'm so glad that it was created.
Yes, I also noticed the equipment. Well when you think that the moonshot was put together on computers less powerful than what we hold in our hands I guess that goes for the music industry as well.😊 _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

I loved "Get Back" and yes, 20-30 min segments was about the perfect viewing time. |

Amateurs. One sitting, two tubs of popcorn, earplugs when Yoko wailed, and I'm lying through my teeth. Holy smokes that first episode was grueling. And Billy definitely saved the day. |

Paul, George, and Ringo sure hid what I'm thinking was a panoply of negative feelings about Yoko's screeching, and her constantly being at John's elbow. Other wives and girlfriends would drop in, give some support and leave, as it should be during the personal creative process.
Oh well. Many things brought the Fab Four to an end and Ono (oh no!) certainly was one of them.

i'm not a big enough beatles fan to even attempt it. i feel a little bad about that -- but not really. like my complete disinterest in professional ball-sports. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

I'm so glad others found it a struggle. Especially as a Brit who grew up with their music all around me. It was great to see the creative process, but goodness me, watching and listening did get unbearable at times. _________________ Reading, talking and listening.

I've been a fan since I was 12 and had always read/heard about how dreadful Let It Be (the film) was because of all of the negativity, Yoko's presence, etc. So I had a lot of deconstructing to do while watching all eight hours of this incarnation.
About Yoko - I don't know if it was Peter Jackson's intention to downplay her presence there or not, but she seemed to just let John do his thing and was there to be with him. Same with Linda. Heather annoyed me more than anything else throughout the documentary, to be honest. She definitely needs to get her zoomies out outside somewhere.
Watching the creative process in action was something else, though. In spite of that, I was left with the feeling of, "Yeah, this band is spent. Time to move on." Each segment went by pretty quickly for me, though. I got a lot out of it. _________________ Greg Littlefield
