Hi all, Elie Hirschman, Artistic Voice Talent here. I just signed up for this forum and am looking forward to meeting you all and sharing info with you.
I have been doing voiceovers - in person and via internet delivery - for about 3 years now, and have also kept in constant practice by participating in voice acting groups. Most notably, I have acted in, written and and produced dramas and comedies for Darker Projects, an internet production group known for their high production values and varied series.

Yours vocally,
====================

Elie,

Please allow me to welcome you to the board. You will doubtless receive quite a few messages of welcome shortly.,

I too am in the NY / NJ area and a newbie on this board. I am slowly but surely working my way through the board archives and I would encourage you to do the same. I am currently on about page 50something of 90something so a little more than halfway through. Digging through this board's archives is like digging in a diamond mine. I have found some very precious gems of information and education in here and I welcome you to join me.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

Boruch-habo!

I'm not really a Yiddish actor, but I play one on stage (long story). Anyway, welcome aboard. You're clearly talented, and to be muli-lingual is a big plus. A couple observations of your demos if I may? The audio seems to be low in volume and really grainy. Maybe they're at too low a bit rate? A higher rate really won't take that much more space or download time and will sound a lot better. Second, I think you could really use some serious sound proofing in your recording space. I hear lots of "room noise" (your voice bouncing off the walls) in most of your recordings. Deadening the room will add a lot to your recordings.

Keep it up. Sol sein mit mazl!

Danke shein!
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement! Yes, many of these are encoded at very low bitrates because of transfer speed concerns, but I think I have since upped my bandwidth, so you're right - time for an overhaul.
As to the room noise- I am curious which clips, because some are clips from finished productions, in which echo and reverb was intentionally added to the mix.
All the best!

Elie,

Please allow me to offer my welcome, also. And to echo Joe's comments about the archives. If you can find the to read all of them, you'll be glad you did. If you can't the search function will turn up many gems, too.

Echo and reverb should be used very sparingly, like maybe never, these days for commercials and such, unless your read is supposed to be in an empty arena or cavern.

My 2 cents.

True- the clips I am referring to were not commercials, but clips from an audio drama. One scene takes place in some kind of hangar bay... cavernous if nothing else. But if any others sound hollow, it might be due to low encoding.
