Wow!

Technology is getting out of hand and out of control.

Wonder what it's going to cost?? Saw NO reference to cost on the site.

I can see where this will be both a hindrance and a help to us voicetalkers.

Saw no examples, either. Could just be hot air.

I guess I'm just too much of a skeptic.
Not that it can't be done... but the "demo" doesn't convince me.
And in regards to having an effect on the VO industry... how about 0%.
Everyone on this board has agreed, when it comes to VO... It not just talking. IF... and that's a BIG if... the software is perfected, I could see it more useful for the tourist visiting other countries... much like a personal translator.
But then again... I am a skeptic.

There is an audio sample in the upper r/h area of the page. It is next to a video sample. The audio was some guy singing in english... and then in a different language. I tried the video... my computer locked up, and I had to reboot. The audio just didn't impress me that much.

ECD: I noticed on your website that your program can work jointly with a Text-To-Speech (TTS) engine. What’s that and how does it work?

DEUTSCH: Voxonic is in the process of developing our own manual markup TTS system where you can type words into the computer and it will come out as a desired person’s voice and not a generic computer voice. We can put a voice sample into our system and create short utterances that don’t have that much emotion in them, like voicemail prompts, short messages – things that do not have active involvement, like greetings. TTS users will be able to take the sample from the target voice, type it in the computer, and it will come out in the target’s voice.

After reading this quote from the Press section, I think we are safe for at least a little while longer.

Another question I have is how can the software translate correctly in all of the languages of earth? For example: When Coca Cola was tanslated into Chinese, it came out as "bite the wax tadpole."
