What's the daily average of auditions your agent(s) are sending you? _________________ www.moosevoice.com |

Pretty much "incalculably low". If asked I will always oblige. |

Well, I only get auditions from my agent. Some days 20, some days none. I never think about it. The days I get none gives me more time to market and write. Some days when I get 20 I cannot get to them all. No matter how many auditions, I'm never not busy. I'm in my office working most days from 5am-6pm. |

A valuable lesson in that closing sentence.
"I'm in my office working most days from 5am-6pm."
First rule of both life and work. "SHOW UP!" |

"I'm in my office most days working from 5am-6pm"
same, Bob.
Feel like I should be getting more from them. I get maybe 4-6 per week between both agencies. _________________ www.moosevoice.com |

Have you had a chat with them? Do you feel they aren't sending you what you should be reading? Categories and genres you know you are right for, but they aren't sending you? And if so, do your demos reflect this?
Have you taken them to dinner to discuss career???? If not, you should. If after all of this you still aren't satisfied, perhaps it is time to shop for new reps. |

Also just checked your site. NO agents listed that I could find. Odd! Why not????? If I were your agent, I'd be really pissed. It's like a slap in the face that you aren't interested in doing your part of this agent/client relationship. |

Good point. I'm updating site these days. Will build that in. _________________ www.moosevoice.com |

Did this today with great effect. Today was a slower audition day, so I spent it strengthening old relationships, making new connections, and *gasp* even planning a 3-part series of LinkedIn posts about a recent campaign.
All of this helped me further discover my writing voice, which was also helpful. Overall, a very good and useful slow-audition kind of day. Wish I'd had this work ethic and understanding years ago, but at least I get it now. _________________ Mike Paul

It's so important to know your markets.
I'm with an agency in Houston, who hasn't been sending many auditions over the last three years, but prior to that they had been sending regularly. I sent them an email to reengage them this morning, and to my surprise, they called me right back.
They said that in their market, what's trending is a deeper, broader voice. Less quirky and whimsical like my wheelhouse.
Their clients are often kids-related. (I booked the national relaunch of the PBS Kids 24/7 TV channel through this agency, so that makes sense), as well as oil and gas, banking, airlines (bookings for United Airlines corporate internal stuff come to mind)...
These days they're looking for explainable, trustworthy, and reliable. At their request, I'll work on some materials to send them so they can better market me.
The story I told myself about this agency was that the pandemic somehow changed them. I told myself that story because I saw staff changes, and Covid rocked my business as well. As it turns out, I was totally wrong. I should've sent this email three years ago when I started noticing the downward trend.
In the spirit of being useful, here is the simple email that I used:
Quote: | Hi [Agent's First Name],
Hope things are going well at [Agency Name]! I wanted to check in--I've been grateful to be on your roster since [Year], and I've noticed a significant slowdown in audition traffic over the last few years:
[Insert audition stats, if applicable; optional]
e.g.
2016: 38
2017: 45
...
2025 (YTD): 4
I'd love to explore how I can better align with the types of projects you're booking. Here's a quick refresher on where I'm at:
National credits: [e.g. PBS Kids, Upside]
Regional work: [e.g. Whataburger, WOW!, Broadstripe, Skinner Pasta]
Product voice: [e.g. BriteBrush, Bitzee, + NDA project]
Genres: [e.g. Commercial, Promo, Explainers, Toys]
Tech: Source-Connect (v3.9 + 4.0), broadcast-quality studio, fast turnaround
Website: [Insert URL]
LinkedIn: [Insert URL]
If there's anything I can update--demos, reads, positioning--I'm happy to adjust. My demo on file is from [Year], and I plan to update it in the next [X] months.
Looking forward to staying useful to your team!
All my best,
[Your Name] |

This is great, Mike. I had been thinking about engaging my agents on this. _________________ www.moosevoice.com |
