Um... plug it in?
I don't mean to be a smartass, Courvo.
The M-audio firewire thing should have any impact on your mouse situation.
There should be a couple of USB ports on your machine and the Kensington 3-button mouse is a nifty little do-dad. Your Mac will have all the drivers already. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

I've got the M-powered version of Pro-Tools 7.1...so the software WILL NOT WORK unless I have the M-Powered Firewire Solo plugged in. |
Dave,
I'm not Bill or DB, but I think you'll find that most USB rodents are supported by the Mac OS, including right clicks.
As for having to have your hardware plugged in to run ProTools, this is true of every version of ProTools, except ProTools Free, which only runs on older operating systems (Win98 and OS9). ProTools is very hardware sensitive. (And I mean this in the nicest possible way. I too use ProTools M-powered 7.1.) _________________ Be well,

The only version of Pro Tools that I'm aware of that will work without Pro Tools hardware is the demo version that only works with Windows Me (The worst version of Windows ever--and THAT is saying something). |

Once again beholden to the collective intellect of this board.
Thanks! (esp. Deirdre) for answers to dumb questions about using a 3-button mouse with the Mac. 'Plugged in my wireless Kensington today, and within seconds I was right-clicking my way to Mac heaven.
'Never meant to imply the M-audio device would conflict with the mouse, but I DID NOT know PT was so hardware sensitive... I get it from a marketing standpoint, but from a user/customer perspective, I think it's a hassle.

An article in EQ (?) last year made the point that Digidesign is a hardware maker first and a software designer second. King Gillette made a fortune by giving away the razor and selling the blades. Digidesign sells the razor... AND the blades.
Forgive me. Apparently someone slipped acid in my coffee. |

I was recently told that a private company broke through THAT barrier by releasing hardware that interacts with Pro Toold (HD not LE).
