|
|
I have successfully done this one time, a mere month ago with a different set of pictures, but now it isn't working. Well, not precisely "this" - on that occasion I was copying the files directly from the camera's memory card onto a CD. Now I'm trying to burn files from my hard drive to a CD. I'm trying to burn the pictures from my France trip to CD to give to family members, and I keep getting told that there is no CD in the drive or that the CD is full. These are blank CD-R disks, and I've also tried blank DVD+R disks, to no avail.
I'm using a Dell PC with Windows XP and just following the Windows prompts. I've tried it on two machines. On the second machine I at least got a message that the CD didn't have room for all the pictures, so I put a blank DVD in, but then I got that same message that there wasn't a disk in the drive.
Any thoughts?
Rejoicing in advance for any help.... |

Mary,
There could be a few different reasons. If you are trying to drag-and-drop onto the CD, it's possible you don't have the application loaded that allows that. What do you use to burn CDs normally? I would recommend launching whatever application you normally would use, Roxio CD Creator, or whatever, then chose to "create a data disk". Then use the interface within the application to create the CD.
It's possible on the "other" computer you tried, that it didn't support writing to DVDs, or didn't support the "+" version. Lots of other issues when you start messing with DVD+Rs and DVD-Rs.
I work in IT, so I'm sure I can step you through what you need to do. Contact me directly if my initial suggestions don't work or you need clarification.

Sounds like Bob is the computer expert...and I have no delusions in that area at all (Uh, tap, tap, tap...is this thing on?).
So, I try to keep things really simple. I use the free photo organizer/import/export/burner/emailer software called Picasa (its on Googles website).
Hope this helps,

Well, this is ironic. I didn't see your post, Dave, but Elaine told me to try Picasa because it was suggested on the vo-bb. I did and it was just as easy as could be.
So, many thanks indeed. |

You're totally welcome... Picasa is one sweet program...and the price is unbeatable!
Happy importing / organizing / editing / exporting / emailing / printing / burning et al...
