Once again the vo-bb brings a few folks together. Ben Wilson, Bob Souer and myself met up for lunch in Columbus, Ohio, today. Bob was in Pittsburgh for the weekend and took a short 3.5 hour drive to share a few stories and laughs with us.
Also, for the first time anywhere on the web....(drumroll please).... I present a picture of Bob Souer.

Does the Old Mohawk in German Village still exist? Spent too many nights there. The turtle soup was to die for.
Columbus. I met my wife of twenty something years there. _________________ www.voiceoverdrew.com

Even this Dutch guy spent time in Columbus OH. I have relatives in the vicinity.
Is the center city mall still there?

Oh please! Let's get the question asked that's on everyone's minds but their too polite to ask (that's why I'm here):
Which one of the three was the first ask the manager if the restaurant would trade the lunch bill for a free radio commercial produced by a real, professional VO?
Come on...fess up! _________________ - Peter

Actually, Ben paid. And being the true voiceover professionals we are, Dan and I let him!
So, no voice services for bill-of-fare discussions took place. And actually the drive was a little less than 3 hours each way, and worth every second for the sheer joy and delight of visiting with these two very talented guys. (Both of whom are really nice, too.) I was honored to be in their company.
Unfortunately, this blows my hope that I might sneak into the Tuesday evening get together at V.O.I.C.E. incognito. And Frank, I certainly hope I do nothing while we're in Vegas worth blackmailing me over. _________________ Be well,

You all are too funny. Let me just say these two guys are some of the coolest guys to hang out with. We talked for 4 hours non-stop and had a great time.
I have known Dan for bit and he is the Bee's Knees....but just meeting Bob today.....Let me just say, Bob is on his game and he is an exceptional guy just like Dan. It was my pleasure to spend a few hours with these VM's (Voice Masters).
Drew, I do think the Mohawk is still there. I am not certain but I think it is. Jeff, you are right....we had the best voices in the place....(ha ha) Peter, no services were offered up though. Good idea for next time though
Edo, never would have thought you would have Columbus ties....very cool though. Yes, the City Center Mall is still around....struggling but still there. Small world!
Wish you could have all been there today since I will not make it to VOICE _________________ Ben

Frank,
You could destroy a few years of great marketing by the Las Vegas Board of Tourism by doing that.

Dan,
By the way, it's actually the first color photo of me, but overall, the second. If you click here, you'll find the only previous photographic likeness of me on the web. (At least I think so. There was a publicity photo done after an interview I did with an author a few years ago in Nashville that might have been published somewhere on the web.)
(As for destroying the Las Vegas tourism board's marketing work, see my note to Frank above.) _________________ Be well,

At $360 for the first hour, and $105 for each additional 30 minutes...

From what I see on the internet the majority of people use it to close their worlds not open them. Why meet in person or talk on the telephone, why let people know who you are when you can invent someone or why let people know you're there at all?
Isn't VO-BB a delight? People meet for coffee or to share a meal, talk regularly on the telephone, keep in touch off board and we each know the reality of fellow members lives. The photo in the first post of this thread says so much more than simply "Hey this is how Bob looks!"
300+ lurkers, you're missing out on something. |
