We are all looking for answers. Some of us, indeed, have been looking so hard, for so long, that we have forgotten what the question was. It's a strange, very human syndrome, this 'obsession with the impractical'. You don't see animals engaging in theoretical debate, or expounding upon their philosophies. Humans, though, love to talk. And talk. And talk. The small matter of whether or not they actually have anything to say hardly enters into it. Don't get sucked into a vacuum today. Just act.

You never know what might happen. Things could change very quickly and you do not want regrets.

My two cousins were flying in a friend's plane this past Friday night on their way to a family get together. While they were landing, the plane hit a batch of ice and flipped. The plane burst into flames. The pilot and my cousin Jamie were basically unharmed. They both realized my cousin Dena was unconscious and hanging upside down trapped by her seatbelt. They quickly released her and pulled her to safety. When they got about 200 feet from the plane it exploded. Everyone is fine. Dena only suffered a black eye.

Here is the plane after it was all said and done:

This was Dena's seat:

Thank goodness both rescuers weren't middle managers as they'd still be sat there discussing who was going to do the risk assesment/feasability study regarding passenger removal.

Well done both of them, quick thinking, selfless and courageous.

Han Solo: No time to discuss this as a committee.
Princess Leia: I am not a committee.

Dan,

A remarkable story, powerfully illustrating (as you deftly observed) Banksey's point to start this thread. I'm so glad to know that all are well.
