I auditioned and got cast to do a narration for one of the special features, a location scouting piece, on an upcoming Pokemon DVD release. That in and of itself was thrilling, but then, my director says "hey, you want to try a character?" Of course I want to try a character, that's what I want to do, cartoon / character stuff!! So he asked me to do the voice of a Pokemon creature called Explode (or X-Pload or some variation) for an animated Short that will also be on the DVD! I must say, for a creature that only says his name or some variation of it (as almost all Pokemon do), it was tougher to do than I thought. At any rate, I've taken one more small step along the path to VO Nirvana! So cool! (or as DB would say BOOYAAHHH!!!).
I just want to say thanks to the many kind and generous people on this board. This place has been very instrumental in my continuing to strive in the direction of my dreams despite all obstacles. I can always count on this board as a place to find useful information and inspiration.

The short is called Pikachu's Mischievous Island. Exploud is one of the bad guys.
The new movie is called Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea
It will be available here in April.

So the DVD I worked on last year just came out. Any parents or grand-parents of Pokemon fans may want to check it out. I did the voice of Exploud on the Bonus short, "Pikachu's Island Adventure" and I also narrate the location scouting piece in the DVD extras.
By the way, my director on this job was Tom Wayland who some of you may meet if you go to Anime Boston. If you do, meet him, tell him Joe said hi!
