I've been wondering how to get enough exercise -- I'm at my desk or table a zillion hours a day.

The Geek-a-Cycle

There's also this:

from Sharper Image, but the darned thing has to have enough mass to not move along with your pedaling motion, so I don't know how good this one would be.

The reviews at Amazon.com for this product are mixed.

I'm just thinking. Huff, puff.

Love the disclaimer.

Caution
If you are over 40 years of age, overweight or haven't
exercised regularly in a long time, it is important to see your doctor
before you start any fitness program.

I can hear it now. I'd love to do that voiceover for you as soon as I catch my breath. (Oh, the rumors!)

there was a great article in Backstage a few years ago regarding fitness ("...The Fit Lady Sings" was the name of the article I think). That really hammered home the need for physical fitness in our particular world of acting.

And then genius me, I put on 75+ lbs. for a series of stage productions and now have the joy of taking the weight back off Frown

I came up with this last night, while brushing my teeth. A friend of mine told me in order to get the best benefit from electric toothbrushes (ultimate goal: whiter teeth) one must brush for 2:00. So while standing at the sink last night, I did 30 releve (calf raises), then 30 plies in first position, then 30 of each again, counting in a one-second-two-second manner, and voila! I had clean teeth and a better butt. (Ha!)

Why not try some Deskercises! Take a look at this instructional video on Basic Deskercises.

Deebs, there is probably something to that contraption. There is one researcher, I believe his name is Levine, who is often quoted on the subject. He stands when taking phone calls, & I think installed a treadmill near his desk, so that he can walk while working at the computer.

This is one reason I bought the electric desk (see GEAR) that raises and lowers my desktop. I can stand up and work whenever I want to. Hit a couple of buttons and it goes up or down to the height that works for the moment.

For me it all started with the first step. There was some guy on TV that kept saying "Don't quit." So I started walking. Every day I'd walk for 20 minutes. Then I got bored with that and would walk a bit and run a bit. Every day. After a year I was running the whole 20 minutes. Now I do 3 miles every day. By the end of the week I'm 21 miles away from home.

Don't quit. <g>

Bill,

In a few more weeks, assuming you're headed in a generally North by Northeast direction, when you get here to Charlotte, I'll buy you breakfast. I'm sure you'll be a little hungry by then. Smile

My grandmother has been walking a mile every day since just after Christmas. We have no idea where she is by now.

Bob,

I used to live in Charlotte (until I was 3 years old <g>) on Fenton Place. Also, our chief engineer who used to work with me here is now the chief engineer at WBT radio. His name is Jerry Dowd. If you ever run into him tell him Hi for me. We love Charlotte.
