Greetings!
My name is Justin Barrett, and I'm a 3D character animator at a studio in Dallas, TX. I've been animating for about six years, and have been fortunate to work on projects ranging from TV commercials to feature films. While I'm far from dissatisfied with my job, I've always had this thing for voice acting, and have had a number of voice acting opportunities through my work as an animator. Truth be told, I actually landed a voice gig for a video game while trying to find my first animation job!
Anyway, I recently decided to begin actively pursuing voiceover work as a second career path, and will start some classes next week to prepare for assembling a commercial demo. I've already picked up a lot of great info from browsing the forum so far, and look forward to meeting folks here and contributing where I'm able.
Cheers!

I spend my days at a computer creating performances for characters that don't exist, and only have between 5-15 seconds of finished motion to show for it at the end of any given week. If I can keep that up for six years and still come back for more, I think I'll fit in just fine here. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

Welcome to the board from just across town in Arlington,
I can't think of a better bunch coco-NUTS to be associated with. Here you will find lots of good information, better support and the best advice. I will second what Dave Christi said. Peruse the Archives. There is a gold mine there just waiting for you to discover.
By the way, who are taking classes from? _________________ Ron Phillips

Justin,
Exactly. You will certainly fit in well. Welcome.
But, the archives are well worth some of your time. There's a lot of gold buried in those hills. And a bunch of laughs to boot. _________________ Be well,

I hope I didn't imply that the archives weren't worth perusing, as I'm sure they are, and I plan on taking thorough advantage of them as much as possible.
Ron: I'll be taking classes remotely with Nancy Wolfson of Braintracks Audio. I took part in the first two teleseminars that she and Anna Vocino have hosted in their "Break Into Voiceover" series, and I was really impressed with Nancy's approach to the business and Anna's testimony of how well it has worked for her, along with the other testmonials on the Braintracks Audio site. My first session will be next week, and I'm eager to get rolling! _________________ Justin S. Barrett
