Greetings all. I am very happy to have found this list (and in so doing even reconnected with an old friend from back in the days). I want to get back into doing voice work and since at the time I left it PC's were barely heard of I find that I'm playing a lot of catch up. There's a wealth of experience on this forum and I have searched the archives until I was thoroughly confused and then started sorting things out a bit with some kind help from Bill Elder.
While perusing some suggestions on eBay I came across this item and thought I should inquire about it to the forum and see if anyone has any opinions on its worth.

The poster has the same booklet listed under several different headings.
Turn Your PC into a Professional Recording Studio
Don't buy Digidesign Mbox 1 or 2 w/out reading first!
The price is certainly reasonalbe but is the info relevent?
Thanks and hope to be around for a long time.

Welcome aboard Mark,
I looked at the eBay listing you linked. I'm completely amazed all the promises made (and there's a ton of them) can be jammed into a 30 page "every secret to recording in the world" manual.
While it may be for real (at some level) anytime I see anything so heavily hyped with over the top promises...I tend to run away. Even at only $8.99 I think the money would be better spent on lunch...which I will wager to be much more satisfying.
The archives here are worth the effort to learn of real world applications by true professionals. My $0.02 worth.

Hi Mark,
I'll leave the gear advice to my more knowledgeable colleagues, but just wanted to welcome you to the board. _________________ Mary |

I checked out the eBay sale. It didn't include a salt shaker. Did you see any mention of a salt shaker? I didn't think so. Sales like that need to come with a couple grains of salt. Buyer beware. _________________ "Bailey"

Thanks all for the replies and welcome. I had Harlan Hogan's book on order anyway but the technical side of this stuff tends to make my brain hurt so thought it wouldn't hurt to inquire about unexpectedly cheap info.
I'll stay tuned.
