So I was reading through this thread...
http://www.vo-bb.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3031
...I was thinking it might be helpful for people if we started compiling a thread of info re: Vista-compatible hardware.
If anybody else out there is hoping to have a Vista-based setup, this might be a good place to share info and experience, which right now is likely going to be pretty slim pickins but over time it should pick up.
Firewire Interfaces
For instance, yesterday I talked to a guy at PreSonus who told me they expect to have Vista drivers for the Firebox by the end of this month. Honestly the guy didn't really sound like he was too confident in what he was talking about, so take that comment with a grain of salt.
In doing more research on other firewire or USB interfaces, I found that Focusrite shows their Saffire product being 32-bit Vista compatible:
http://www.focusrite.com/product/saffire/spec/
USB Interfaces
Here, Roland shows their Edirol UA-4FX USB interface has Vista drivers for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=758&ParentId=114
Same with their Edirol UA-101 USB interface:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=703&ParentId=114
And their Edirol UA-25 USB interface:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=704&ParentId=114
Please note I don't have any personal experience with the above...just reporting info I found. It would be great as people have a chance to use various hardware with Vista if they could report their experiences here in the future.
I'll be sure to do the same once I have something to play with (and yes, I'm still talking about Vista hardware) _________________ Lou Zucaro

And, as of this morning, Digidesign says "Vista version coming soon". |

yeah, until the support is more forthcoming, I'm sticking with XP. I've even had better luck with XP-64 than Vista with using 32-bit based drivers.
In a year or so, maybe I'll revisit the issue, but for now I'm content with having a working machine
Though, if all else fails... I'll use my Mac. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

The funny thing about Digi and Vista is that I think I remember there being some posters on the DUC that were running Pro-Tools in Vista beta-versions.
Must not have worked very well.... _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

It could have been that they ran it in Beta versions where some system components were more like XP than Vista. I read the same thing...same with a guy who said he was using Vista Beta with a Firebox without a problem. _________________ Lou Zucaro

FWIW...
Just got off the phone with somebody at Sony who said "I can't be very specific but the next numbered product of Sound Forge will be Vista compliant, and that should be out pretty soon."
I asked "Do you mean in the next few months?" to which he replied "Or sooner. But I can't be more specific than that." _________________ Lou Zucaro

...but DEFINITELY before the next incarnation of Windows comes out, for sure! _________________ Greg Littlefield
