I was rather busy last week but, ou t of curiosity, rolled tape on a 'Webinar' hosted by V123 featuring a London-based fellow named Steve Hudson who is selling a home-study VO course called the PSR Method.

I'm a veteran talent and occasional teacher so I'm always interested in what other Coaches 'approaches' are...and what they genuinely have to offer.

I had a chance to skim through it but from what i heard it appeared quite oriented toward the 'newbie' per se, in terms of some very fundamental
common sense stuff- but have not heard the full 'course.'

Just curious as to other opinions from anyone who knows anything about
the actual content of the course being pitched in this presentation.

Regards,

MikeE

There's an .mp3 on the fellow's website:
http://www.voicemaster.co.uk/
It's fascinating. In the audio demo, he shows how, in just four short hours, he is able to completely remove any trace of spontaneity, character, meaning, and life from the actors' reads.

How in the world does he do that?

It's a special skill with an inner beauty. The method is a derivation of
the Talk Without Animation Technique.

I heard the webinar - it was simply a sales spiel. And when I finally visited his site - ack - I don't want any of that!!!

OH MY GAWD!!!! I don't know what to say except OH MY GAWD! OH MY GAWD! I am DYING!!! It's like a parody of itself! He can't be serious!!!

And his website proudly proclaims "Creator of the PSR™ Method, the only technique in the world for verbal communication." The only technique in the world for verbal communication? Wow. I guess that explains why I have heretofore been completely unable to communicate verbally.

Excellent diet plan, though. I think I've permanently gone off chocolate.

I’ve learned to take most things that V123 endorses… with a pound of salt.

Ah. The secret to the PSR™ method. PSR, of course, stands for:
Pretty Slow Reading

Oh dear. I was thinking more along the lines of "Pathetically...". You know, I may be a total n00b in this business, but... OMG... Even *I* would not put together a "results" demo with someone who sounds like they just put a fistful of Pop Rocks and Rice Krispies in their mouth before reading the chocolate copy...

I have to chime in here... ( I think most of you are in Vegas partyin' like rock stars about now anyway ) I was annoyed by the pitch. I'm always looking to learn more about the craft, or different approaches to it, but all this was was a sales pitch. And, a not so good one.

bummer.

Hope you're havin' fun in Vegas!!!! Smile
