For those who make their own CDs, Meritline.com has some fantastic labels. I bought a package of them and I was dubious about the "hi-res" feature. But I was surprisingly pleased with the result. Text and images are very sharp from my inkjet and there isn't the "bleed" that often accompanies printing on normal paper. Keep in mind you'll want a Stomper or some other type of applicator.
Use coupon LAB40POFF to get 200 labels for $14.37 and free shipping. The following is NOT an affiliate link.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jeff.
I've been using the Neato brand, and now I'll have to reformat my template, but it's nice to know these are decent quality. You certainly can't beat the price, especially compared to the Neato brand. I bought some supposedly high quality labels on eBay a year or so ago and ended up returning them because they looked like crap when printing my Demo labels. |

I've discovered the pleasure of printing right on the CDs.
Beats the paper labels, especially if they're exposed to any kind of atmospheric change.
Printable CDs and DVDs are inexpensive (Americal) and so are inkject printers that can print on them. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I'm with Deebs.
Using a Casio CD printer...CW-50. It screen-prints right on the CD.
Looks very sharp when you use gloss-finish CDs. Sure it would work
fine with matte finish too. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Thanks for the Casio recommendation. I've been looking for a good CD printer, but wasn't sure where to start. Once my CD labels are gone, I'll probably go that route. _________________ Jeff

I have an Epson R320 that does a great job on printable CD's. Seems like it was around $100 when I bought it. My only issue is how fast I run through ink. (on that note, thanks again Todd!) _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

The Casio goes through ribbons pretty quickly too. I like the look of the
printing so much though that I kinda take the good with the not-so-much. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

So with the Casio, are you printing directly on CDs, or on a label on the CDs?
And.. if it is on the printable CDs, how does the ink hold up to moisture? Is it the same as when a regular printed page gets wet? _________________ Donovan

It prints right on the CD Donovan. Smear-wise I've never had a problem.
Can't comment on the water-resistance as I've not taken one swimming yet.

Seconded for the R320... it's an awesome price for high DPI CD printing.
If I had a cheap way of laminating the tops, I'd be golden...
However, much like all other inkjet consumables, the ink is water soluble, making it less than idea when exposed to rain, high humidity (of the tropical kind), etc. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

If it's a thermal printer, which I think it is... that shouldn't be an issue. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

yeah --- Epson R-series is a super (and super cheap) printer, and does a great job on CDs and DVDs - the aftermarket ink I told Brian about is WAY cheap as well - although not archival and water resistant. However - most of the CDs I send out are single-use - so it really doesn't bother me that much. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Considering that a laminator for a CD is $2600 and quickly goes up... I'm cool with that too.
While I would love to have one so as to take it to a higher level, I'd rather finish my new VO area first and get the gear and DAW PC before going after "niceties" _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
