So the TV is on in the background while I'm making myself breakfast this morning and all of a sudden I hear a very familiar tune; not a favorite song, mind you, but a familiar tune nonetheless. I pause for a moment, then I remember what it is. It's the old "Teaberry Shuffle" jingle from back in the 60s? 70s?. I look at the TV and it's being used in an ad for Oscar Meyer.
Are advertisers getting (even more) lazy or just capitalizing on a memorable trigger to reach a new audience?
P.S. A subsequent search led me to this interesting and amusing site. |

My ears pricked up the first time I hear that commercial as well.
I don't think it's laziness, I just think it's a very good tune for a spot.
And thanks for the "Classic Commercials" site! Trés nif-tay. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

What's old is new again. Oscar Meyer must be demographically targeting the boomers, like "me" . Gotta love the nostalgia angle. _________________ Bobbin Beam

I think what they were going for in the music selection was "part elevator music; part unbridled insanity".
Works for me. _________________ www.jclsound.com
