Ho- hum.

Let them go nuts. It has no impact on anything we do.

Back in the late 70's it was all about Disco.
... Disco is dead.

Now all I hear about are "flash in the pan" voice carrols.
Perhaps they to will go the way of Disco.

Feh. It's a great way for newbies to get practice while starting off. One of the rules at radiodaddy is that if someone contacts you offline about getting MORE work out of you, they have to be ready to pay you for it. I have a friend with a day job who makes decent money with what he's built from there doing small bits at night for internet broadcasters (which is a good majority of the userbase there...). Most of what's posted there is stuff like "You're listening to DJ so-and-so", so rest assured, no national agencies are trolling the site for a free read.

Just because something says "Welcome" doesn't mean it's a doormat... Wink

i will say this... i joined both, and i have gotten a couple of paid gigs based on the free work i did. and they paid my rate, which really surprised me.

it's also another place to network, which could lead to other gigs.

My first reaction was, "Oh great, let's do v/os for free." Yea right.. Interesting I suppose to some just getting into business. Thankfully, I'm not that hard up for paying gigs to advertise on a free v/o site. If I change my mind, you'll see me name in there, but I don't think so,

For folks starting out, it makes a lot more sense to get the practice reading bad copy and working on their delivery for FREE rather than pay $200 a year to do the same amount of work.

The way I work, I'd rather be in a long term relationship. If I thought I could get a couple of good permanent clients, I'd do it. The advantage is you do the stuff that looks good to you, instead of endless auditions that may lead nowhere. Every year I have a certain amount of work that I do for folks for free. Not for tax reasons, but to just to be helpful. I guess this could qualify. Smile

UPDATE:
OK...I joined to see what the deal is. It seems to be fairly new but my business model tells me that I have to have more money coming IN than OUT. Wink So, my activity is subject to available time. The bottom disclaimer info does read that "Voice Daddy is a Trademark of Nexus Broadcast." There is a link to VoiceDaddy.com on their site.
