When Devon was very small, he was sitting in front of the TV while huge, red words flashed on the screen. The announcer shouted:
"Total LIQUIDATION! This Saturday and Sunday ONLY! All pianos, organs, player pianos, and accessories WILL BE LIQUIDATED!"
Devon turned to me with his eyes as big as Frisbees, quivering with excitement. "Can we go to that? Please?" I had to share the sad news that "liquidated" and "liquefied" do not mean the same thing.
I think he would have liked to go see hundreds of Oriental rugs slashed, too.

I've always been bugged by the expression "...reduced up to xx% and more!" If it's "more", then the "up to" percentage isn't accurate. |
