Hey gang,

Each of my agents just sent me an audition --- for the same job. What's the proper etiquette here? My humble thanks in advance...

Don't know which it is, but there is a thread about this same topic somewhere. Just last week I think...

The obvious answer is that it's a cattle call so you will lose nothing by not auditioning. The alternative would be to qualify the audition by asking each agent why the client particularly wanted to have a custom audition from you.

Not trying to be facetious, you need to establish if your chance is 1-300 or 1-5. I suspect the former.

I have multiple personalities and I'm considering getting an agent for each.

This has happened to me before when I lived in a city where talent would have non-exclusives with several agents in the same town. I've always deferred to the agent that sent the audition first.

This happens to me every once in a while. I usually go with the agent that gets it there first.

Auditioned for the first to arrive, other agent had no problem with it.

And Philip, with all due respect... a "cattle call"? I tend to think that, at least with auditions sent by an agent, I'm only competing against the other VOs on the agency roster(s)... as opposed to the V123 sense of everybody and their aunt Mildred with a mic and PC.

It could still be deemed a "cattle call" when mutiple agents get the same call. It means the client is throwing a wide net, not focussed—as it would be by asking for just David Houston, Philip Banks, and Todd Ellis.

Not unless your agent is getting the breakdowns from LA and New York - then you are auditioning with folks from all over the country. That happened several times with un-named agent in Atlanta a year or so ago.

I stand corrected, or at least better informed. Looks like Aunt Mildred is just about the only one not being asked to read...
