for all of you to listen too...this is a website tour from Jack Daniels that I borrowed a bit of copy from and made up the rest...Kinda my southern style voice here..let me know what you think on a more serious note. The music intro is VERY rough I know but I'm on a roll! LOL!

To me it felt like I kept waiting to hear the next line...like it should be a lot tighter. Also, the pace is very leisurely but on "virtual distillery tour" you read it very quickly so I kinda felt like "What'd he say??"

Also there was one place where I seemed to notice a pretty pronounced 'p' pop.

I noticed the exact same things. The spacing between phrases was just a bit too long. Maybe if I heard it while seeing visuals that matched them, it would be a little better. On the word "pretty" there was a loud popped P. And the "virtual distillery tour" was said almost twice as fast as everything else.

Not all negative though... I liked your tone and "gravely goodness."

That was a 37 second commercial. Time is money. Try doing it in 15 seconds. Slow talking doesn't always mean l o n g... p a u s e s. If this was a TV commercial, it would have to be 28 to 30 seconds... tops.

Since this was supposed to be for a website tour, I don't think the length is as important. It was the pauses during the delivery that seemed off.

Well I have alot to learn....Obviously...but thats okay,
I was delivering slow due to the "Style" on the Web page but I see what you mean....waiting and waiting.....then whoosh...I think I was trying to fit it in the music track I had, rather than fit music to the copy. I heard the plosive but could not fix it...(using Protools LE 7.0)
Thanks for the input....I know you guys have much better things to do than to "bottle feed the noob" but I sincerely appreciate your time, comments and help!

As far as fixing the plosive... this may sound bad but, don't have the plosive in the first place. There are pleny of techniques to reduce the chance of a plosive creeping in there:

Talking across/under/above the mic, instead of into it.
Smiling while you speak reduces your plosives as well.
A really good pop filter can help, but it's been my experience that the hard P's and such will still get through with incorrect technique.

Just some tidbits of info for you, keep at it!

One other tip for plosive reduction is to be off the mic a bit. There are some cases where you need to be closer to create a different feel, but the closer you are the more likely plosives will be.

I can also show you the PT 4-band EQ setting for a "pop filter" that you can apply to the occasional powie.
