I am in Raleigh this weekend for a wonderful anime conference that brings Japanese voice actors and their American counterparts together. We had a panel today that involved myself, Kyle Hebert, and Takeshi Kusao and was solely about DragonBall Z. Kusaosan voices Trunks in Japan, and I voice Goten in America. If you are familiar with the show- these 2 characters fuse together and create Gotenks. There is a little dance and song that is done before fusing that is very famous from the show. Kusaosan asked me at the end of the panel to do the fusion scream. It was a big deal for me! I was honored to be joined with an original anime voice from Japan. A fan told me he posted it on You-Tube (per my request as you will hear)...in fact- I'm sure it will be posted from many angles by early next week. If you are interested in my very cool fan moment...

If you've made it this far...this is me describing how I became involved in the show...

Again, I appologize- this was very exciting for me! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Well, you certainly looked as giddy as the cameraman sounded. No geekiness detected on your part, Kara (and I have a good detector!). You should be proud of your achievement. _________________ Greg Littlefield

LOL!
I remember the joke that Lance came up with for the show while Funimation was acquiring the rights.
You know what it's called "DragonBall" right?
Because it drags, on and on and on and on...
(FWIW: I voiced Goku back when fandubbing was allowed due to the "Lamacchia loophole"... did the voice for DBZ and DBGT a few years before the either Ocean or Funi dubs )
actually, I got a nice hanken not too long ago as thanks for the work done:

Very cool Yoda! The cameraman looks like he sounds ... Very excited! In fact, I know another 'angle' will be posted soon that includes shots of the audience. I will be sure to post for your viewing pleasure!
Thanks for the kind words! I was up until 4 this morning with my new Japanese friends. The woman I spent most of my time with is the most popular female voice in Japan. She is Dora the Explorer and ALL THREE OF DONALDS NEPHEWS! Yup, Huey, Dewey and Luie (I know I misspelled- sorry, too tired to look it up!) Plus, about a thousand more! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

the fans at an anime con are nothing if not intense =-O
watching one fan handcuff herself to a well-known anime VA was just, well, scary.

//she didn't know he was gay

I can certainly see why you had to stand up!!
What a complete thrill to meet the Japanese VO for the character you voiced.
The whole adventure looks like a complete blast—hanks for posting these clips!
Greg:
I kinda think she wanted to have HIS baby, not the other way.
Call me crazy.
No-- call HER crazy. That's probably a tad more accurate. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Hahah! What a great story! The fans here have been incredible. Very respectful of all of us. Almost too respectful! I keep having to tell them its ok to ask for autographs and pictures- none of them want to bother us!
Liz...yup- 12 inches of hair instantly gone! I wanted to donate it to Locks of Love after we lost a friend to cancer recently. So, hopefully some little girl can get some good use out of it! Actually, I love it- it dries much faster now!! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Kara....that was so awesome! Thanks for posting that. The camera guy was cracking me up! That laugh could be the basis for a funny character voice.
I really enjoyed that.....and you look GREAT _________________ TG2

Kara,
It's so delightful to see you in these videos. I loved the scream, but I especially loved the story about what happened at your audition. Your confidence and talent are so infectious! _________________ Be well,
