So I've found myself on a discussion panel for my local chapter of MCAI, discussing "Talent". The audience is made up of producers, writers, and free lancers of all types. I'm looking for constructive helpful hints for those in the gallery....Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'll get hammered by the regulars for saying this.
Talent is great and all, but not everyone was born with it. Hard work and confidence with someone who has a little talent will almost always trump someone with a greater amount of talent, but little of the other two elements.
In retrospect, that makes more sense than I'd originally thought... _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Are you talking about "Talent" as in us, here...voice-talent OR are you talking about HAVING talent?

i've said this here before too ... i think, but talent is great - but connections are better. i'll bet there are plenty of people out there with more talent than me making less money - and i durn-sure know there are folks out there with LESS talent making more.

Super - please say hello to the assembled masses from the immediate Past President of MCA-I. And I have a F of an article I wrote that was published in AVVMP (now Studio Monthly) that you can use if you wish. Here is a link to a version of the article on the MCA-I website.

Email me off line and I'll send you the F. _________________ Playing for a living...

Hello JJ,
As the Past President of the MCAI-Chicago chapter, I wrote a series of columns devoted to the topic of "How to Get the Most From Your VO Talent." The columns featured tips on casting, preparation, directing, physicality, etc, and included such arcane details as how to format a script to make it easy for a talent to read. I'll forward a Word doc that compiles these tips into 12 pages, feel free to use any or all of it. Just mention my name!
All the best,
Tom Test

The aim of the panel is to help producers choose the right talent for a project and all of the little things that go into working with and dealing with talent through the life of a project....

That would be splendiforous, Connie! Not exactly sure what that word means. How about "yes" then? Thank you for your kind remarks.
All the best,

Tom,
I agree. Very well done. I've added a post to my voiceover blog about your articles. _________________ Be well,
